The following exercise will help you to recognize differences between the “Normal to Trajectory” and “Normal to Projection” option during section control option as highlighted below.

When “Normal to Trajectory” option is selected, orientation of sketching plane and geometry will be as per following pictures respectively.

While using “Normal to Projection”, orientation of the sketching plane with respect to DATUM PLANE Y will be;

And the final geometry will be;

In this option you will get geometry Normal to selected projection plane as shown above.

This fundamental will be very useful during any Plastic component design where we need to maintain every feature in PULL or DRAFT direction. In that case DRAFT plane will be our Projection plane/direction.
